Update 06/12/2012
Here are the latest photos from our last event, organised by Linzi and held at Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club on the outskirts of Chorley. It was a smashing event, where we joined up with the Ribble Valley CCC for a joint Christmas themed event.
The setting was lovely and the room akin to a Victorian parlour, compete with roaring fire.
Some very imaginative and creative cakes were made and eaten in keeping with the theme of 'The 12 days of Christmas'; as ever our bakers (who came from as far away as the Fylde coast) challenged their baking a decorating skills to the max!

Update 09/11/2012
Here are the latest photos from our last event, organised by Linzi and held at Duk Pond in Preston, a tapas restaurant. Not withstanding the Preston Guild Marathon was taking place in the city centre and this meant roads were closed (who in the right minds has a marathon in late October in the North West I don't know?). It was a smashing event, some very imaginative and creative cakes were made and produced and as ever our regular bakers challenged their baking a decorating skills to the max!

Update 25/09/2012
Clandestine Cake Club number nine tonight for South Lancs bakers and we made it to the city of Preston (timely as its Preston Guild this year).
Organised by Linzi from Lancashire Food blog, we had a lovely group of bakers and guests, and a lovely selection of cakes and with a 'cakes and the city' theme a number contained alcohol...nice!
Even floods in the local Lancashire villages today couldn't stop these bakers!
Our hosts tonight were Winckley's a sandwich bar/coffee shop just of Winckley square in Preston, located in a pretty cobbled mews street linking Winckley square and Preston's Fishergate main shopping street. It was a lovely venue and they had stepped in at the very last minute to host us.
Thank you Winckley's for staying open late to let us have our cake club at your venue, we are very grateful.
Thanks to everyone who braved the bad weather tonight.

Our eighth Clandestine Cake Club South Lancashire event was also the one year anniversary of when we first started in August 2011. Like a year ago the weather was a bit damp...but the cakes were amazingly good.
We held our first birthday bash in a coffee shop called Coffee @ the Carrington in Eccleston in West Lancashire and coincidentally this village is where Bradley Wiggins (olympic cyclist) lives with his family.
Our theme was simply any cake that would suit a birthday...and we had some crackers, including Jane's amazing creation of a strawberry jelly and ice cream cake...which she assembled in the coffee shop...like so...
The other cakes were pretty fabulous too...it was lovely to see some new faces alongside some members that have been with us since day one...here's to the next year and more amazing tasting cakes!

Cake Theme'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!'
Its our birthday this month and we are one year old!
In that time our little cake club has gone from strength to strength, we have welcomed new members and managed to hang on to some old (but good) one's for most of the year too. We've made lots of new friends and enjoyed the company of fellow bakers. We have visited some lovely venues and met some wonderful hosts, and drank quite a few cups of tea and coffee.
We have also managed to bake and eat our way through 140 plus cakes, created from some amazing recipes and baked by our members in their own kitchens. If you have been to our cake club before in the last year we would love you to come back for our birthday event, if you've never managed to join us, now is your chance and we'd love to have you on board!
We are proud of our cake club and what we have achieved in the last year...so please come and celebrate with us...AND...bake us a birthday cake!
The cake can be anything you like (candles are optional).

Our seventh Clandestine Cake Club South Lancashire event was held tonight in a wine bar and italian restaurant in Leyland called Davinci. At this event we had a total of fourteen cakes made by home bakers, Sue, Jane, Linzi, Kate, Margaret, Kate Cro, Jacki, Kathyrn, Louise, Lynne and Sarah, Janet, Rebecca and Carla from nearby areas.
Our theme was 'Get fruity' and we certainly had a range of fruit laden cakes that fitted this theme...I was impressed by how many people had been brave enough to come up with their own recipes for they cakes...while of interest other recipes came from 'women's weekly'. 'the telegraph' 'farmhouse cookbook' 'good housekeeping' 'fiona cairns' and even a magazine that was 20 years old.
The rose and raspberry cake made by Lynne and Sarah (mum and daughter) had a lovely story attached to it on the label, which read..."this cake comes from a recipe from Good Food magazine June 2002 (!) to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee. It was first bakes to celebrate Sarah's 10th birthday which was celebrated with friends at the Forest of Dean, the cake travelling 150 miles from Formby where we lived. It has been baked on many occasions since and my younger daughter Kathryn used the recipe as a basis for her GCSE Food Technology. This, however is the first one adorned with rose petals". What a lovely story to go with such a lovely cake (the cake stand it came on was a talking point too!)
We also had an amazing range of different shaped and flavoured cakes from a strawberry jelly bunt cake, a mango cake, a dutch apple cake, an apricot cake, lemon, lime, blackberry, cherry and orange flavoured cakes, a berry roulade and two strawberry cakes.
The cakes were truly amazing they do seem to get better and better with each event we have.
Our hosts looked after our every need, and supplied us with teas, coffees, wine, soft drinks etc (we had our own space in the downstairs area at Davinci for the evening).
Thanks to everyone who came along and here's to the next South Lancashire Clandestine Cake Club which will be our FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY and will be held on 19th August 2012!
Many thanks to Davinci wine bar and restaurant for letting us have our event there and their hospitality.

Update 01/05/2012
Our sixth Clandestine Cake Club South Lancashire event was held tonight in a restaurant in Little Scotland, Blackrod, (which is near Bolton) called Suzanna's. At this event we had a total of eleven cakes made by home bakers, Sue, Jane, Linzi, Kate, Margaret, Kate Cro, Rachel, Jacki, Liz, Sarah and Carla from nearby areas.
Our theme was 'An English country garden' and we certainly had a range of inspired cakes that fitted this theme...with ingredients including rose, raspberry, lavender, chocolate, courgette, honey, vanilla and lemon.
We also had an amazing range of different shaped cakes from a honeycomb with bees buzzing around it, a beautiful butterfly, a round bunt and a cake made to look like an allotment! The cakes were truly amazing tonight and everyone pulled the stops out with their baking and cake decorating prowess.
Our hosts looked after our every need, and supplied us with teas, coffees, wine, soft drinks etc we all loved the venue (we had the run of the restaurant at Suzanna's for the night) and we all took copies of the new menus from Suzanna's home with us to study.

Our fifth Clandestine Cake Club South Lancashire event was held on a most gorgeous warm sunny Spring Saturday afternoon in a Deli in Horwich called THYME DELI.
This event saw a total of eleven amazing cakes made by home bakers, Sue, Linzi, Denise, Carla, Fiona, Kate, (Kate's mum) Margaret, Kate (Cro), Yvonne, Liz and Rachel, from nearby areas and from other locations quite a distance across Lancashire.
We had some lovely guests come along too.
We chatted, we mingled, drank a range of teas and coffee supplied by THYME and we shared a lot of cake, foodie and local knowledge and generally we had a really lovely afternoon getting to know new home baking friends and their guests better.
Our theme was 'Spring' and we certainly had a range of inspired cakes...with ingredients including lemons, limes, rhubarb, raspberries, blueberries, chocolate, carrots, and nuts!
The cake decorations were brilliant, with flowers and butterflies and even included a lamb (with grass) and a hand knitted carrot!
Which I think is a first for any cake clandestine cake club in the country.
Thanks to everyone who came along and to Amanda at THYME DELI and her staff who looked after us so well.
We all agreed this was a lovely location and we enjoyed our visit, if you are a home baker this is such a heavenly place to browse and pick up baking equipment or lovely foodie inspired gifts and nick nacks for your kitchen or home.

The poor weather stopped a number of people getting to us today but we still had a good time and it was lovely to welcome some new members who we hope will come to our next event in March.

Update 01/12/2011
Our third Clandestine Cake Club South Lancashire event was held tonight in a Gastro Pub in Euxton in Lancashire called The Railway. This event saw a total of eight cakes made by home bakers, Sue, Jane, Linzi, Helen, Jo, Lynne, Alex and Carla from nearby areas.
We had one guest Pauline, a friend of Lynne's who makes the most wonderful cakes as a hobby.
We chatted we shared
Our theme was 'Secret Santa' (bring any cake but it is a secret) and we certainly had a range of Christmas inspired cakes...with ingredients including Bailey's, cherry, cherry brandy, orange, coconut, coffee, marzipan, cinnamon, lemon, lemoncello, white chocolate all the way to vanilla madeira sponge (not all in the same cake!).
Amazingly as no one knew what cake other bakers we only had two cakes that were similar, the snowmen cakes. And no one brought a Christmas cake! But we had recipes from Germany and Holland to inspire us.
The thing I liked most about tonight's cake club was that it was 'action packed'; we had a get to know you session, a quiz, and a secret santa gift swap and it made it more fun than ever, that along with some fabulous tasting cakes in a lovely warm setting on a cold winters night made it a night to remember.
Thanks to everyone who came along and to Denise, who wanted to join us but was unable to we hope to see you in January 2012. Many thanks to The Railway at Euxton for letting us have our event there.
